Blood Sugar – A Thin Light at the End of the Long Tunnel.

Thank you ABC/TV Australia for this very powerful investigative work.

The poor have no voice and this is when and where independent media brings truth to power.

The tycoon’s son reasons that his father provides employment to thousands of workers in these empowerished communities.

He really means that Phnom Penh Sugar owned by his family has turned proud land owners to underpaid day laborers with no future, running the risk of being crushed by the tractors and forced into silence against filing complaints.

What ABC needs to show also is the empowerment of the villages thru training and hard work of NGOs and land rights activists such as Eang Vuthy and others.

Farmers in the same province have taken the case against the Thai Sugar Company to court in the UK.

What needs to be done:

*Pressure on the European Union to suspend the Everything But Arms program till fair compensations are provided to the victims.
Fr years, the EU has refused to send an investigative team and at his last visit, the EU Trade Commissioner even alludes to the fact that there is no human rights violations involved in the blood sugar. During his visit he met his counter part, the minister of Commerce and other dignitaries.

** withdraw your money from ANZ in Australia and in Cambodia.

It only works when it hurts
