The game in Burma is not yet over. World pressure should continue for much longer.
Take Cambodia s an example: 1993 UN sponsored elections in Cambodia and we thought democracy would last.
Lesson learned: a very long process of democratization. Cambodia’s opposition MPs continue to be faced with lifting of immunity and hold no membership in lower and upper Houses.
The danger is that Burma newly elected opposition MPs will have nothing more than their seats in parliament.
Hoping for the best for Burma and her people.
It is a new beginning.
Long Southeast Asias black sheep, Myanmar is enjoying an image change following its landmark Apr. 1 by-elections. Tongues are now wagging about the regions new beacon of hope for democratic change.
