President Obama’s team has done an incredible job at consulting with key people for the preparations of the president’s trip to Cambodia. Cambodian Americans who are influential in politics were also consulted. We have been communicating all along with the president’s team and we have said exactly the same thing:
President Obama is very welcome by the Cambodian people only if the visit serves as the US firm demonstration of values, of freedoms and liberties and not a rubber stamp for dictatorship.
Having said this, it is not the time to stop communicating with The White House and State Department.
We are still firm on getting a US Congress Resolution on Cambodia for free and fair elections.
