Films That Matter

In The Hague at the film festival with Tep Vanny.

The festival began tonight with a powerful film The Act of Killing about the genocide committed against Chinese-Indonesians in the 1960’s.

Many similarities with the Cambodian situation – the acting out of the killers and their pride of their act.

The film allows Indonesia to get back to what has remained in the dark. it traces those who gave the carte blanche to kill that goes all the way up to the West.
