AN UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW WAS ADOPTED TODAY

We will continue to say NO to the newly adopted law through activism and by standing even more together to defend democratic space.

This adopted law will take back years of NGO and civil society hard work to build a voice .

Why the adopted law is unconstitutional

  1. According to an English version of the Cambodian Constitution, it says in Article 8 that the King shall be the protector of rights and freedoms for all citizens and the guarantor of international treaties, and in Article 93 that any law approved by the Assembly and signed by the King for its promulgation shall go into effect in Phnom Penh 10 days after signing and throughout the country 20 days after its signing.

So if citizens believe that their rights and international treaties are being threatened by LANGO, they should be free to petition to the King not to sign the law.

    • Your logic is correct but politics not that way.

CNRP stays with his position strongly.

Culture of dialogue never means sleeping with the “enemy”.
